HELP ME! SOME JUNKIE IS MY ONLINE STALKER

Social Media junkies can be obstinate or stubborn and intense. They can often be stalkers whose idea of networking is more parasitic than symbiotic. Sometimes, they absorb and absorb so much knowledge off social media and yet you wonder, what value has these added to their lives when you do see them or have them hit on you. Are you one of those who add up people you don’t know… Not because you have a product to advertise or service you provide that they may be interested in; but because this person you are adding is a popular figure and perhaps among several other weird reasons, it would be nice to show she/he’s my friend on FACEBOOK (or other medium)? You may need to check well whether you’re a junkie. How about if you chat up an “unknown” friend just so you “greet”… WHAT purpose does that add to him or to you?

And there are some whose idea of networking is for you to provide ALL the answers that they could easily get, if they care to spend the time on research.

… The point is what value is social media activity adding to you, your life or your friend’s life and what are you contributing to others? What’s the point of loading up data, upon data, in these hard economic climes if there’s no obvious positive values that can be translated into professional or personal growth that you add to others and vice versa.

Don’t get it wrong, you can enjoy some entertainment on your social media platform. I do too. But the next time you want to add a friend or hit someone up for mentorship and or seek assistance of some sort, ASK yourself, can I do this myself or what value have I added online or have I gained so far? Before you load your next data, be sure to know that you’re not another addict, getting a distraction from living your life through other people’s posts or tweets, because you see, they may be living the life you dream while you’re wasting your life observing theirs.

Before you ask for help, be sure, really sure, you’ve done the ground work… Research, observation and learning. Identify where you are and where you are going, then perhaps you need a coach or mentor to help you with how to get there. Stop asking general questions and waiting to be spoon-fed.

In the end, it’s your life and you will ultimately tell your story but don’t junk up on other people’s lives for you might miss the whole point of your own living. Much thanks to my 2 good friends who chatted me up today and whose conversations stirred up these thoughts in me
